What happens in a counselling session?
Sessions offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk about whatever feels important. You set the pace. We might explore your feelings, patterns, relationships or the challenges you’re facing. My role is to listen, reflect and support you as you make sense of your experiences.
How long is a session?
Online sessions last 50 minutes. This gives enough time to explore what’s going on while keeping the work contained and manageable.
How often will we meet?
Most people come weekly or fortnightly, as it helps build momentum and a sense of safety. Other's might feel a one-off session is what they need right now. Let's discuss what feels right for you.
How many sessions will I need?
There’s no fixed number. Some people come for a short period to focus on a specific issue; others prefer longer‑term therapy. We review together as we go.
Will my session be at a regular time and day ?
Some people prefer sessions on a regular day and time. If you would prefer to book appointments based on your varying availability then we can do this, subject to our availability.
Do I need to know what to talk about?
Not at all. Many people arrive unsure where to start. We can explore that together, and you can bring whatever feels present in the moment.
Is everything confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us, with a few legal and ethical exceptions that I’ll explain clearly in our first session.
What if I’ve never had counselling before?
That’s completely okay. Many people I work with are new to therapy. I’ll guide you through the process and make sure you feel supported.
Can counselling help if I’m not in crisis?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be at breaking point to benefit. Counselling can help with self‑understanding, decision‑making, confidence, relationships and navigating life changes.
What if I get emotional?
It’s very normal. Emotions are welcome and we move at a pace that feels safe for you.
