Debra Channon Counselling: Support for Life’s Challenges

Support for loss, burnout, overwhelm and life changes

You may be holding things together on the outside while inside finding life much harder. Whether you’re grieving, burnt out, overwhelmed or unsure how life has ended up feeling this way, I can help.

My name is Debra (she/her) and I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor offering online counselling across the UK and Walk & Talk therapy in South West London, including Putney, Barnes, Wimbledon and Richmond.

If you’d like to explore whether counselling feels right for you, I offer a free, no‑obligation 15–20 minute phone consultation.

Approach

Counselling provides a safe, confidential and non‑judgemental space to explore your feelings, thoughts and experiences, especially those that feel too difficult to share elsewhere. My approach is warm, steady and grounded, helping you understand what you’re going through and what you need right now.

I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen with empathy and support you as you:

  • Explore new perspectives
  • Understand relationship patterns
  • Increase self‑awareness and self‑acceptance
  • Recognise your strengths and resources
  • Develop coping strategies
  • Move forward in a way that aligns with your values

I support adults with a wide range of emotional, relational and life‑related challenges, including:

  • Anxiety - worry, panic, overthinking and generalised anxiety
  • Stress, overwhelm and burnout - emotional overload and chronic exhaustion
  • Depression and low mood - feeling flat, hopeless or disconnected
  • Grief and loss - navigating the emotional impact of losing someone or something important
  • Bereavement - support after the death of a loved one or pet
  • Relationship difficulties - challenges with partners, family or friends
  • Feeling stuck, lacking purpose or motivation - when life feels directionless or heavy
  • Life changes and transitions - changes in identity, roles, relationships or direction
  • Career or work‑related challenges - stress, career uncertainty, redundancy and retirement
  • Low self‑confidence or self‑esteem - struggling with self‑worth or self‑belief

If any of these resonate with you, please get in touch to explore how counselling might help.

About

I’m a qualified therapeutic counsellor guided by empathy, respect and understanding. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore what matters most to you. My aim is to create a consistent environment of acceptance where you can express yourself freely, navigate challenges and move toward personal growth and wellbeing.

My experience includes:

  • Several years as a bereavement counsellor at St Raphael’s Hospice, Cheam
  • Over 20 years as a Samaritan, supporting people in emotional distress

Before training as a counsellor, I spent many years working in UK and international corporate organisations. This experience deepened my understanding of stress, change, uncertainty and the complexities of human relationships in both personal and professional settings.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their code of ethics. I have regular supervision and undertake continual professional development.

I hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and have recently completed a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling. My work is grounded in the Person‑Centred Approach, and I integrate Experiential, Gestalt and Psychodynamic ways of working. This allows me to tailor therapy to your individual needs, preferences and pace.

I’m committed to non‑discriminatory practice and welcome clients of all identities, backgrounds and relationship structures.

I am DBS certified and registered with Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
